My favorite Halloween was the year a group of friends and I decided to go on a Hearse Ghost Tour in Downtown Savannah. It was great! You get into an actual hearse with the roof cut out so it’s kind of like a convertible - but for dead people. Very creepy.
The tour started downtown near City Market and meandered around the squares and out to Bonaventure Cemetary. We slowed as we passed haunted houses so the guide could give us the history behind the scary stories in his scariest voice. I got goose bumps – and not just from the cold air!
Things to Do:
Hearse Ghost Tour
$15/person - Be sure and make reservations in advance - and bring a blanket
Alee Shriners’ Terror Plantation

Some other great options include visiting Colonial Cemetary, Bonaventure Cemetary, or just getting dressed up and heading downtown - lots of people will be in costume and hitting the bars all weekend long. Have fun!

It was a gorgeous, sunny day, so my husband and I headed to Savannah’s Historic District for a great brunch at J. Christopher’s on Liberty Street. Our Doberman, Achilles accompanied us, so we chose an outdoor table. We ordered shrimp and grits and the Goldie-Lox dish (lox and bagles with capers. yum!). Achilles was served a bowl of ice water and the Puppy Chow dish, which had all kinds of breakfast foods, including eggs and maybe sausage - needless to say, our dog was a happy boy.
After our fantastic brunch, we headed to Forsyth Park to get some exercise and give Achilles a little running time. Here is some video footage of the park and of Achilles playing fetch:

A 9-foot-long, 300 pound alligator was captured on Tybee’s North Beach Monday. Jack Douglas, known as "Trapper Jack" caught the gator and will kill it, then sell its meat and hide. Gators smaller than 5 feet are released back into the wild, but this old guy didn’t make the cut. It may be just as well, as it was unusually bold, lurking in the water of a popular swimming area. Douglas has trapped around 5,000 gators in the Savannah area since 1989 and only two of those were found on the beach.
